The brief
The Information Factory delivered internal web applications for DHL. I joined the team as a front-end developer.
What was difficult
A large corporation’s internal systems are a different world from campaign microsites. Nobody looks at them for how they look — employees use them daily, all day, often for years. Speed, consistency and predictability matter more than effect.
The main part of the work was developing global styles for internal pages. That means writing CSS that has to work in contexts you can’t see, on content that doesn’t exist yet, for developers you will never meet. Every decision about naming and specificity multiplies across the whole system.
What was built
A set of global styles, frontend work on applications in Angular, and testing across projects. Work nobody notices because it simply works — which, for internal tooling, is the best feedback there is.
